AmRest was established in October 2000, as a joint venture of American Retail Concepts (ARC) and the Yum! Brands company (Yum!), earlier operating as Tricon Global Restaurants. The ARC shareholders include Donald M. Kendall, a co founder and a former President of the Management Board of Pepsico Inc.
AmRest employs over 18 000 people.
AmRest operates its restaurants based on franchise agreements, under joint venture agreements or as an owner of the brands. AmRest does not grant a franchise licence to third parties.
